Binod Paudel is a USA-based Nepali filmmaker. As a pioneer of the academic study of film- making in Nepal, he was a Principal and acting coach at Oscar International College, which is the only academic institution to offer a university-affiliated Bachelor’s degree in film studies in Nepal. He has a Bachelor’s in Film Studies from the same college, and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, UK.
Paudel is the writer of the critically acclaimed feature film Saanghuro, which received numerous awards such as the Critics Award at the Nepali National Awards, and the Jury award for the best feature fiction at the SAARC Film Festival. Saanghuro is the only Nepali feature film to have been broadcast by Channel 4, the popular UK broadcaster. He received the Best Writer Award from Rt. Honorable Ram Baran Yadav, the President of Nepal, during the 2013 National Awards. He also received a similar award from the Critics Society of Nepal for the same film.
Bulbul, his first feature film as a writer-director, released on 15 February, 2019,across Nepal and was the official submission from Nepal for the 92 nd Academy Awards. It collected best responses from audience and Media so far. It is regarded as ‘Top film of the year’ (Nepali year 2077) by many Prestigious National and International film festivals included in resume attached. Many film critics and film scholars regard Bulbul a work of poetic realism which explores the psychology of contemporary society through intense characterizations.
After working in several national and international projects in creative departments, Paudel worked as an associate director for God Lives in the Himalayas, a feature film which premiered at the Busan Film Festival. He has been a jury member at several film festivals in Nepal, including the prestigious National Awards, Nepal, and Alpaviram Film Festival, India. He was also featured in Vanity fair for his hardship and great contribution to establish academic cinema college in Nepal.
Combining the aesthetics of surrealism with a narrative acumen and an understanding of international distribution, Paudel focuses on developing new, accessible stories that connect South Asia to the world. The World’s Happiest Man, set across Bhutan, Nepal, and the USA, will be his second narrative feature as a director in the USA. The screenplay for this feature film was selected for pitching in 2019 at the Asian Project Market at Busan International Film Festival, South Korea (on the title of Akron International)

Krishna is a paper boy, and his mother works as a sweeper. Krishna falls in love with Kamala, a domestic worker to a rich family, and the two marry. The film portrays the psychology of the newly wedded couple.
